STRONG SEASON START AS TORTI TAKES ROUND 1 WIN AT SANDOWN - FORMULA FORD
BF Racing South Pacific Marine Group driver Andrew Torti has completed a strong start to his 2026 Formula Ford campaign with 2 race wins and a round victory at Round 1 of the Victorian State Formula Ford 1600 championships, at Sandown Motor Raceway in Melbourne.
Torti now heads in to the second Vic State round at Calder Park, leading the championship.
A second place in Race 1 was bettered by wins in Races 2 and 3 on Sunday and the Queensland driver was never headed after starting on the front row at the technically demanding Melbourne circuit.
The opening wins of the season follow a successful run in open-wheelers as he ended last year with a championship trophy, having topped the Australian Formula Ford 1600 Nationals class.
Torti has spent the majority of his racing career in Formula Fords, having karted in his junior years before taking a hiatus to focus on his career in general. The 45-year-old then returned to the category a few years back and has never looked back as he went from strength to strength in the series.
His impeccable record in Formula Ford at a national level has seen him enjoy more than a dozen podium finishes despite having made just over 20 appearances in the category.

In addition to his Formula Ford driving, Torti will also context the 2026 Monochrome GT4 Australia competition with Lachlan Evennett, at the wheel of the brand new Toyota Supra GT4 EVO 2.
The pair will get some crucial testing time completed before making their series debut alongside the rest of the Monochrome GT4 Australia field for the Shannons SpeedSeries’ GT Festival Phillip Island on 27–29 March.
